Interview with João Pedro Rodrigues and João Rui Guerra da Mata

This chapter consists of an interview to João Pedro Rodrigues and João Rui Guerra da Mata. The interview evolved from a series of productive encounters that the author had with João Pedro Rodrigues and João Rui Guerra da Mata in Lisbon and Los Angeles over some years. These encounters and talks are reflected here via questions that explore the aesthetic, ethical, or political significance and distinctiveness of the directors’ cinema. Similarly, it also represents a journey through João Pedro Rodrigues and João Rui Guerra da Mata’s work, by addressing the many themes and ideas present in most of their films. In a sense, this chapter summons up many of the issues discussed throughout the book.
