Derrida in Strasbourg

View through CrossRef
Between 1970 and 2001, Derrida visited Strasbourg on very many occasions at the invitation of Nancy, Lacoue-Labarthe, or Lucien Braun. He participated in various colloquia on philosophy and literature and dissertation defenses and once spoke at an event at the European Court of Human Rights on the death penalty. The city is a port and a bridge on the Rhine and not far from Freiburg. In the early 1970s there were opportunities to cross the river and visit Heidegger there, but Derrida somehow never got around to making that journey.
