A Case Study of Nidranasha and Its Management Through Ayurveda
View through CrossRef
Nidranasha (insomnia) is a condition discussed in Ayurveda as a disturbance of one of the essential supports of life, Nidra
(sleep). Along with Aahara (diet) and Brahmacharya (celibacy), sleep is considered vital for maintaining health. Disruption
in sleep can significantly affect physical and mental well-being. Various Ayurvedic texts identify causes of Nidranasha
including Dosha imbalances (particularly Vata and Pitta), lifestyle, age, constitution, and disease. Modern perspectives also
link sleep disorders with stress, pain, psychological conditions, and aging. Ayurveda proposes numerous herbal formulations
and treatment strategies to address insomnia. This case study explores an Ayurvedic approach to treating a chronic case of
Nidranasha, detailing its causes, symptoms, and therapeutic interventions.
