The middle part of the triptych (cf. KI 10500-10) Toyokuniga mittlermittlermittlerparody on the 7th act of the Kabuki play, “Kanadehon Chūshingura mittler様 mittler様 mittlermittlermittlermittlermittlermittler”. In this scene, Ōboshi Yuranosuke, leader of the 47 rōnin In 様, reads a secret letter, disturbed by two clandestine fellow readers: prostitute Okaru reads from the veranda on the 1st floor with and Kudayū, belonging to the opposing party, who hides under the veranda (engawa) on the ground floor. Here the roles are somewhat mixed up. In the garden a woman squats and reads a letter. A man sits above her on the veranda and smokes a pipe. He sees her shoulder and reads. On the left you can discover another piece of a veranda. Someone should be hiding on the left leaf under the veranda and also read along. The man on the veranda is an actor.
