The Place and Importance of Siwak in the Life of Prophet MuhammadrnThe aim of this study, which investigates the use of the miswak in the life of the Prophet Muhammad, the miswak, used for oral and dental hygiene, is introduced. The study examines its use primarily in Arab societies, the historical products these societies benefited from, and the tools used for oral and dental care in other societies. Another research topic is the examination of the way miswak was used during the time of Prophet Muhammad. Through this, the study seeks to answer questions such as whether the Prophet introduced a different practice when using the miswak compared to society, or whether he continued the existing practice while adding innovations to it. The study examines how the value the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) placed on the miswak was reflected in the sahabah and how they regarded the miswak. As miswak became a sunnah practice, the changing political, social, and cultural thoughts after the time of the sahabah have influenced its use, and scholars have discussed this in their works. Our thesis reflects how the scholars after the sahabah contributed to the study of the miswakrnTherefore, this thesis aims not only to reveal the truth of a historical phenomenon but also to bring attention to a product that could simplify our daily lives. Although many studies have been conducted on the biography of the Prophet Muhammad and its subfields since the Republic period, it has been noted that there has been no serious thesis work on the miswak, apart from translations. Thus, the goal of this thesis is to fill this gap. The greatest challenge encountered here is the presence of weak narrations regarding the miswak. While some of these weak narrations may seem appealing, certain ones are quite extreme. This issue will be addressed, and the study aims to reach its conclusion while seeking answers to the questions posed in the objectives section.rnKeywords: Sirâh, Hygiene, Oral Care, Siwak.
