THE NOUS OF EDMOND MAIRE AND HENRI KRASUCKl At the confédéral Congresses of the CFDT and CGT in 1982, the imperceptible shifts in the system of references via the use of nous in the replies of E. Maire and H. Krasucki may be seen to have the aim of making the members of congress appear as spokesmen on a par with them, playing a vital part in the organisation, and also suggests a representation of the organisation itself. The use of nous by Edmond Maire underlines the multi-faced nous of the organisation, and this is highlighted in a " debate " that is given a great deal of importance (but is also prudently curtailed) and is part of the re-writing of the confédéral history. The use of nous by Henri Krasucki, rooted in activist memories and in the experience of members of congress, speaks simultaneously for the different sections of the confederation, and gains in resonance when confronting hostile external forces.
