Authoritative Parenting sebagai Prediktor Moral self Siswa SMP

The rise of moral issues among students leads to disharmonious interactions that create social unrest in society. This shows that the students' moral self is low. Several studies have highlighted that family structure, parent-child interaction, and parenting style have been associated with children's moral self. In another previous study, it was found that parental warmth was positively associated with moral self in childhood. This study aims to determine the predictive relationship between authoritative parenting and the moral self of junior high school students. The population in this study were public junior high school students in Wonorejo District, Pasuruan Regency. This study used a quota sampling technique and obtained a sample of 222 students. The results show that there is a simultaneous predictive relationship between authoritative parenting and moral self. In the warmth and support dimension, there is a partial predictive relationship with the moral self. However, in the dimensions of autonomy granting and authoritative regulation, there is no partial predictive relationship with the moral self. In future studies, researchers suggest considering other factors that influence children's concept of meaning towards parenting applied by parents.
AbstrakMerebaknya isu-isu moral di kalangan pelajar mengakibatkan interaksi yang tidak harmonis sehingga memunculkan kegelisahan sosial di masyarakat. Hal ini menunjukkan rendahnya moral self dalam diri para pelajar. Beberapa penelitian telah menyoroti bahwa struktur keluarga, interaksi orang tua dengan anak, dan gaya pengasuhan telah dikaitkan dengan moral self pada anak. Pada penelitian lain, diketahui bahwa parental warmth berhubungan secara positif dengan moral self pada masa anak-anak dan dijelaskan bahwa pentingnya parenting dibahas sebagai implikasi yang mampu memperkuat moral self. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan prediktif antara authoritative parenting dengan moral self siswa SMP. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP negeri di Kecamatan Wonorejo, Kabupaten Pasuruan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik sampling kuota dan diperoleh sampel sebanyak 222 siswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan prediktif secara simultan antara authoritative parenting dengan moral self. Pada dimensi warmth & support terdapat hubungan prediktif secara parsial dengan moral self. Namun, pada dimensi autonomy granting dan authoritative regulation tidak terdapat hubungan prediktif secara parsial dengan moral self. Peneliti menyarankan kepada orang tua untuk menerapkan pola pengasuhan yang penuh kasih sayang dan dukungan. Pada penelitian selanjutnya, peneliti menyarankan untuk mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor lain yang mempengaruhi konsep pemaknaan anak terhadap parenting yang diterapkan oleh orang tua.
