Dampak Subsidi Perikanan dalam Perjanjian WTO terhadap Nelayan di Indonesia

Fisheries subsidies have become a central issue in the context of international trade governed by the WTO Agreement. For Indonesia, a country with a significant fisheries sector, these subsidies have a major impact on the livelihoods and economic well-being of fishermen. Although the WTO regulates various aspects of fisheries subsidies, their implementation and effects on Indonesian fishermen remain a key concern. This study explores the concrete impacts of fisheries subsidy policies within the framework of the WTO Agreement on the socio-economic conditions of fishermen in Indonesia. The analysis covers the implications of WTO policies on fishermen’s welfare, the sustainability of fishery resources, and their influence on national trade and food security. In addition, the study examines how subsidy policies can either promote or hinder the competitiveness of Indonesia’s fisheries sector in the global market. In the context of economic globalization, this issue has become increasingly complex as it relates to trade fairness, marine environmental protection, and the enhancement of sustainable fisheries production capacity. Considering all these aspects, this study is not only relevant for understanding global dynamics in the fisheries sector but also provides strategic insights for policymakers in formulating actions that can improve the welfare and economic sustainability of Indonesian fishermen in the future.
