FIGUR, Borgardam. Standing, right hand a piece below the chest, holding the suit, the left slightly uplifted to the neck, originally holding an object that is now missing. Clothed an outer coat adorned with tabs, composed of flowered robes, in blue, gold and brown red. From the tabs outgoing acacia branches. Down a fence pattern and hares. The inner coat decorated with leaf loops. Figurines of this kind were manufactured for export only. They depict geishas, female hostesses who mastered Japanese art forms such as classical music, dance, play and conversation, mainly to entertain male customers. They musical instruments (some missing) and swing in dance. Porcelain figurines of ladies in underglaze blue with overglaze enamels and gilding.
