Joining a business network offers the opportunity to increase the bargaining power, market penetration or innovation of each member of the network, but these outcomes are linked to the quality of the organisation of the network over its lifetime, especially with regard to coordination among partners. The establishment of effective and efficient coordination mechanisms is a necessary choice to facilitate synergies between partners and to mitigate potential divergences or conflicts. This chapter sets out to examine the organisational choices made by business networks to address coordination needs between network members.
