The 3D Modeling and Visualization of Highway Slope Based on GIS and Its Application

View through CrossRef
Three dimensional (3D) model visualization of highway slope can provide geological model for geotechnical engineers intuitively and conveniently. The main difficulties of highway slope visualization are the modeling of slope surface and underground. For surface modeling, the existing methods have the disadvantage of long coding period, while, for underground modeling, the difficulty is lack of the detailed data of stratum and structural plane. In this paper, based on MapGIS-TDE platform, using the survey and design data of highway, the 3D geology modeling methods of slope surface, ground and underground are presented, the sub-model building methods of excavated slope, excavated road and unexcavated slope are also discussed. In addition, based on the 3D geology model, combined with the wireless communication technology of displacement and rainfall monitoring data, the information management system of highway slope has been developed for real-time remote monitoring and prewarning by using C++, which has the functions of real time receiving of monitoring data, data inquiring and drawing, slope stability calculation, real time prewarning, displacement forecasting and 3D visualization management. The system has been successfully applied in the landslide monitoring and prewarning in Changde-Jishou Highway and Loudi-Xinhua Highway in Hunan province.
