Smolensk in the Life and Work of N.I. Rylenkov

The article examines the part of Rylenkov's work in which the image of the
Smolensk region is created or touched upon. The main focus is on the poetic legacy of Nikolai Ivanovich. Such peculiar elements of the poet's Smolensk text as
«Smolensk region is a teacher», «Smolensk is a space permeated with history», «Smolensk is magical», «Smolensk is reborn» are highlighted. Along with this, it is noted that well-known motifs in Rylenkov's works acquire nuances, deepening, and a special presentation. Literary theses are confirmed and illustrated by numerous examples. The paramount importance of Rylenkov's creative legacy for the Smolensk text as a whole is noted. In addition, it was emphasized that Nikolai Ivanovich, through his creativity and works, made a significant contribution to
the image of his native city.
