Cécile Reims (French, 1927–2020)
Born in France in 1927, Cécile Reims joined the French Resistance during World War II and was later awarded the Legion of Honor for her service. In the years following the war, she turned her focus to the arts, becoming a master engraver Reims collaborated with major figures of the 20th century while also developing a deeply personal body of work often exploring organic forms, cycles of life and decay, and the delicate interplay between the real and the surreal.
