View through Harvard Museums
Wheelmade lamp of the so-called cocked-hat type. Small bowl with two sides pinched together to form a wick rest. Narrow, low, unfinished base with string marks. Red-orange fabric with sand-sized black and white inclusions. Wheel striations over whole of body. Unslipped.
Department of Ancient and Byzantine Art & Numismatics Information sheet in object file indicates that this lamp is from Cyprus. It is not clear whether the statement is conjectural based on the form of the lamp or if the lamp was actually acquired on Cyprus. Harvard Art Museums/Arthur M. Sackler Museum Bequest of David M.
