Guillaume Saluste Du Bartas et The Arcadian Rhetorike d’Abraham Fraunce

En 1588 Abraham Fraunce publica en Londres su Arcadian Rhetorike. En su interior los versos de siete poetas ilustran la teoría de Abraham Fraunce. Entre estos poetas se encuentra Guillaume Saluste Du Bartas poeta hugonote francés, muy admirado en su tiempo, que llegó incluso a rivalizar en algunos momentos con el propio Ronsard. Frecuentó la corte del Rey de Navarra y su carrera poética así como la diplomática le llevaron a viajar por Europa donde sus numerosas traducciones le dieron fama internacional, especialmente en los países anglosajones. En este artículo intentaremos mostrar cómo esta difusión europea así como su tolerancia religiosa, su amor por la ciencia y su arte poético fueron características decisivas para Abraham Fraunce a la hora de incorporar versos de Du Bartas en su Arcadian Rhetorike.
