Provenance-Restitution-Culture de l’histoire

L’auteur s’interroge sur la contribution que la recherche de provenance peut apporter au débat actuel sur les restitutions, ainsi que sur les dimensions historiques et mémorielles de ce débat. Après une introduction sur l’histoire de ce domaine de recherche, sont présentées les recherches actuelles sur la provenance et les restitutions concernant les biens volés par les Nazis ainsi que les biens culturels issus de contextes coloniaux. Enfin, les dimensions historiques et mémorielles du débat sur la restitution sont abordées du point de vue de la recherche sur la provenance, et la thèse selon laquelle la provenance a le potentiel de devenir un nouveau paradigme dans les sciences culturelles et humaines (« provenancial turn ») est développée.
