A full length portrait of the artist at his writing desk, facing outward. He is seated with his legs crossed, and his right elbow on the table, his cheek resting on his hand. His left arm is draped over the back of the chair. He is dressed in a dark coat, grey-green trousers and a white shirt with a turned-up collar. On the desk are writing paper, an inkwell and quill and a stack of books., Label on reverse inscribed "portrait of T.S. Good of Berwick-on-Tweed/ born 4th Dec. 1789/ m. 21st March 1839/ died 18 April 1872/ 10 x 8/ This picture was formerly in the possession of J. G.
