Rurality in Morocco: More real than real, symbolic

This work is a reflection on the representations of rurality in Morocco's oral heritage. A corpus of proverbs was collected, and those relating to rurality were first selected and then compared with other sources, namely sacred texts. The aim of this comparison is to clarify the symbolic value of rurality in proverbs, as well as to try to understand the origin of the latter. The results of this work are likely to provide answers to questions such as: Why do these proverbs remain anchored in the collective memory? And what role does rurality play in maintaining proverbs?
