One of the wildest fiddle bands of all time consisted of George Washington Carter (1869–1948), Andrew Jackson Carter (1877–1956), and George’s son James Auguston “Jimmie” Carter (1900–79), from Quincy in Monroe County. In 1928, the trio recorded ten tunes for Okeh and Vocalion.
