«IN FORMA DI PAROLE». OSSERVAZIONI SUL LESSICO DELLA COMMEDIA

Il principio della varietà è uno dei tratti che maggiormente definiscono la lingua di Dante e, specialmente, della Commedia: si tratta di un vocabolario estremamente ricco che spazia dai lessici tecnici delle scienze ai latinismi, dai vocaboli che esprimono le esperienze più concrete e quotidiane fino ai neologismi, significativi della grande creatività onomaturgica dantesca. Questo contributo nasce dalla volontà di mostrare le potenzialità di uno studio della ricchezza lessicale della Commedia condotto tramite il Vocabolario Dantesco: si propongono dunque alcuni risultati delle ricerche condotte nell’ambito del VD e si offrono approfondimenti relativi a un lessico tecnico, quello dell’anatomia e della medicina, al lessico della luce nel Paradiso e, infine, un caso specifico di variazione semantica, rappresentato dalle voci argento e oro, al fine di mostrare in che modo l’escursione dei significati si manifesti anche sulla base del progredire tematico e stilistico delle tre cantiche.   ‘In the form of words’. Observations on the lexicon of Commedia   The principle of variety is one of the most defining traits of Dante’s language and, especially, of the Commedia: it is an extremely rich vocabulary that ranges from the technical lexicons of the sciences to Latinisms, from words expressing the most concrete and everyday experiences to neologisms, significant of Dante’s great onomaturgical creativity. This article aims to show the potential of a study of the lexical richness of the Commedia conducted through Vocabolario Dantesco: some results of the research conducted within the VD are therefore proposed, and in-depth studies are offered on a technical lexicon, that of anatomy and medicine, on the lexicon of light in the Paradiso and, finally, on a specific case of semantic variation, represented by the words argento and oro, in order to show how the excursion of meanings is also manifested on the basis of the thematic and stylistic progression of the three cantica.
