Soviet Russian propaganda poster “OZET Lottery 5,” 1933

The poster depicts happy faces of Soviet workers and peasants. This poster is propaganda material commissioned by the All-Union Association for the Agricultural Settlement of Jewish Workers in the USSR (Vsesoiuznoe Obshchestvo po Zemel’nomu Ustroistvu Trudiashchikhsia Evreev v SSSR), best known by its abbreviation OZET (Yiddish, GEZERD), established in 1925 in Moscow. OZET’s mission was to publicize inside and outside the USSR the plans to foster Jewish agriculture, and to collect funds for implementing those plans. 1929 and 1933 OZET lotteries were aimed at raising funds for development of the Jewish autonomous region established in 1934 in the Far East. Most likely, designed by Mikhail Dlugach (1893-1988), Soviet artist, the author of many propaganda and movie posters. Editor Gol’tsblat. Technical editor Agranenko. Published by the OZET and IZOGIZ Press in Moscow in 1933. Print run 40,000 copies.
