Sankey, of a shrine with bells in a forest-cave near Pachmarhi,
dated c.1860.Pachmarhi is a quiet hill station of Madhya Pradesh
situated at an altitude of 1067 metres. The large plateau is
surrounded by the Satpura range of hills. Around Pachmarhi there
are some interesting archaeological places. Around the hilltop
shrine of Chaurgarh, near Mahadeo, the summit is covered with
emblems of Mahadeo's (Shiva) worship. In the Mahadeo hills there
are some cave temples containing very old rock
painting.
