Abstract
This brief conclusion offers a summary of the major claims of the book and argues for their ongoing historical and philosophical relevance. This conclusion also examines the notion of progress at work in Schelling’s philosophy. Schelling draws on the resources of the past in order to address the idiosyncratic projects and problems of his own philosophical era. Schelling, in his attention to the tradition of Platonism, presents a model for engaging with past philosophy in order to make progress in the present. This conclusion accordingly offers a reflection on the ongoing relevance and resources of Schelling’s philosophy for our own age.
