SOCIAL DIMENSIONS OF CHAKMA TRADITIONS IN TRIPURA: SUSTAINABLE POLICY AND CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES

Tripura is one of the smallest of the seven states located in the northeastern part of India. It is surrounded on three sides by Bangladesh and on the other side is the vast territory of India. The state covers an area of 10, 491 square km. The state is home to a confluence of different ethnic groups and tribes, which is unlike any other state in the Northeast. The kingdom was ruled by the kings of the Manikya dynasty. Each nation in the state has its own social and cultural heritage. Among the twenty tribes of the state, the socio-cultural heritage of the Chakma nation is no less. Tripura has two branched Chakma, the Anokya and the Tanchangya. In this society, with the improvement of the society as compared to the past, the social structure and its customs have taken the form of modernity to some extent. This socio-cultural heritage has been showcased not only in India but also in the world. The social governance system includes the Chakma Social State Council, which is based on the Left and is based on goats and traders at the village level. The main occupation of the Chakma was agriculture. Jhum cultivation is one of these agricultural activities, in which seeds of various crops are sown. The Chakma have their own cultural costumes, their own scripts, their own ornaments, their own cultural dances, songs and recitations.
