'Bodice'

View through Europeana Collections
Tailored, sleeveless jacket, stitched from light grey fabric and lined with dark grey. It has a middle layer of approx. 5 mm foam(?). The jacket has frontside seams and 2 backseams, that end in the armhole and that are accentuated, together with the side seams, by hand-stitched, blue-grey lacing (silk). Button pins stick out through the whole jacket. A fleece of steel wool hangs on them, forming a shawl collar. As closure on each front there are 6 loops of 2 cm. that interlock and through which an aluminium pin with steel wool button slides. The 'Bodice' can be opened and closed at the front, by means of a thin metal rod that slides through the loops.
