View through CrossRef
Nisha-amalaki, prepared from a combination formulation of turmeric (Nisha / Haridara / Curcuma longa) and Indian gooseberry (Amalaki/ Emblica officinalis), is proven in Ayurvedic knowledge and treatment for diabetes and its associated complications. Explore the study of Nisha-amalaki in glucose metabolism and glycaemic control instead of a pharmacological study. Nisha-amalaki is effective in controlling diabetes, Madhumeha, and Prameha. It has antioxidant, antihyperglycemic, insulinemia, antidiabetic, and alpha-glucosidase inhibitory properties. It improves sensitive insulin receptors and glucose uptake from muscle and is beneficial for diabetes management, along with controlling and preventing microvascular diabetes (diabetic retinopathy) and macrovascular diseases like atherosclerosis. Nisha-amalaki is a group of a combination of Haridara and amalaki called Nisha-amalaki. Nisha-amalaki is very effective in diabetic complications. This review emphasizes the colour, characters, potential and activity of Nisha-amalaki.
