ঈশান কোণের দুঃখগাথা: প্রসঙ্গ দেশভাগ ও ত্রিপুরার ছোটগল্প

The refugee problem and associated issues of communalism, livelihood and land crises, have been coeval with Tripura’s merger with India in 1949 as the third smallest Union Territory. The effect of the Partition in shaping the socio-political, economic, and religious history of a region has been felt even more acutely in Tripura than in Punjab or West Bengal. The Bangladesh Liberation war of 1971 further accentuated the already existing problems leading to the inevitable threat of separatism. This article attempts to study how this history has been reflected in the short stories of Bimal Choudhury, Bhishmadeb Bhattacharyya, Sukhomoy Ghosh, and Subimal Roy writing in the 1950s and ‘60s, and the current crop pf writers like Sunanda Bhattacharya, Sankhasubhro Dev Burman, and Nilip Poddar.
