AI-enabled Teaching Reform of Vocational College Foreign Trade English Research Based on Cross-border E-commerce Talent Demands in Lingang, Pudong, Shanghai

As the core carrier area of the China Pilot Free Trade Zone, Lingang New Area of Pudong Shanghai has witnessed rapid agglomeration of cross-border digital trade and cross-border e-commerce industries. The market has an expanding demand for compound higher vocational talents equipped with practical foreign trade operation capabilities and business English communication competence. Traditional foreign trade English courses suffer from multiple pain points: teaching scenarios decoupled from local Lingang industries, monotonous oral training, theory-biased assessment systems, and teachers’ insufficient practical industry experience, which fail to satisfy the full-process business communication demands of cross-border e-commerce posts in Lingang [1]. Taking a 15-unit modular foreign trade English curriculum as the carrier and combining competency standards of cross-border e-commerce enterprises in Lingang, this paper constructs an AI-driven full-process teaching reform framework from four dimensions: teaching resource development for lesson preparation, in-class scenario training, whole-process assessment, and integration of industry and education. Technologies including AI speech evaluation, virtual role-playing, personalized learning trajectory push, and local industrial case generation are embedded in all teaching units such as International Trade, Commodity Description, L/C Examination and Amendment, and Commodity Inspection & Customs Clearance, so as to address the disconnection between traditional courses and Lingang cross-border e-commerce posts. Teaching practice proves that AI-integrated teaching can significantly improve students’ practical oral competence in cross-border inquiry communication, logistics coordination and after-sales dispute resolution, and provide replicable practical paradigms for digital transformation of foreign trade English courses and cultivation of compound cross-border e-commerce talents in Lingang.
