Cornelis Meyer was boekdrukker van beroep en woonde op de Hoogpoort in “‘t Gecroond Sweerd” samen met zijn broer Jan. Hij had als kenspreuk: “Altijd bezig”. Samen met Jakob Heye is hij een van de belangrijkste herstellers en werkzaamste leden van de rederijkerskamer De Fonteine.
