The work, compiled in two volumes under the auspices of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, covers a wide historical spectrum from the foundation of the Ottoman Beylik (Principality) to the imperial period. In the first volume, important conquests and new challenges related to the founding of the Ottoman Empire are discussed in depth, while the second volume provides a detailed analysis of the scholars, Sufis, and social structure. In total, 34 independent studies provide new perspectives on the early Ottoman Empire and answer many questions about the past.
