Extract from the report on the city of Eger. Above, news about Eger, such as the completion of the sewerage system (by 1928), the construction of the slaughterhouse, the development of the city fire brigade and the handover of the Korona (Crown) Hotel. Below is a drawing of the hotel. The building stood on Dr. Szmrecsányi Lajos Street (later Klapka György Street). It was designed by Gyula Wälder, professor of architecture at the University of Polytechnic. The two-storey, baroque-style urban, large modern hotel was started to be constructed in 1927 and was opened in 1929. It had forty guest rooms, two restaurants and a pub. The hotel, owned by the town, was leased to János Unterreiner, who had sufficient experience after managing the Palace in Budapest, and hotels in Balatonföldvár and Tátrafüred. Over the years it had several names: Hotel Táncsics, Hotel Egri Csillag, Hotel Park. Géza Trak was mayor of Eger from 1924 to 1929. The korona (crown) was the currency of Hungary until 1927.
