BLOOD DONATION AS A HEALTH INTERVENTION: BENEFITS, RISKS AND PHYSIOLOGICAL ADAPTATIONS

Background: Blood donation, traditionally regarded as a „priceless gift of life” and altruistic act of supporting healthcare systems, has increasingly been examined as a potential health - modifying intervention for donors themselves.
