Radio Orator, Agit stand with loudspeaker, No 3

View through Europeana Collections
In 1922, Gustav Klucis created a series of drawings for outdoor, folding, expandable and easily movable pavilions. These artworks intended to surround the Fourth Congress of the Comintern and the celebrations of the fifth anniversary of the Revolution, and they were submitted for approval to the Kremlin. These constructions were of "immediate social utility," serving propaganda and communication purposes, featuring bold colors (red, white, black), geometry, and light, natural building materials. They combined sound, image, and movement, featuring loudspeakers to broadcast the party's announcements, speaker platforms, three-dimensional slogans and written messages, screens for projecting films and documentaries, and surfaces for exhibiting photographic material and posters.
