A mítoszteremtés nem kizárólag a régmúlt sajátja: erkölcsi és társadalmi kérdésekre reflektáló új történetek, új hősök napjainkban is feltűnnek egy új, modern mítoszteremtés keretében, olykor ókori mitológiai történetek adaptálásával, s e történetek hőseinek modern köntösbe öltöztetésével, újraértelmezésével. Tanulmányomban a Héraklés-mítoszok képregényes adaptációit vizsgálom, amelyek közül kiemelendő a The Incredible Hercules c. Marvel-sorozat, ahol a görög hős a modern értelemben vett szuperhősként tűnik fel.
