Abstract
Since passing away draws radiant value from life, and since we are holistically grateful for life—for the whole thing, including its bad parts—should we be grateful for passing away? It is argued here that the bad aspects of passing away—its many ways of depriving us of more good existence—make gratitude an ill-suited affirmation. However, we can find another affirmation of the radiant value in passing away: we can take solace from the fact that it is a part of life.
