The first lodge of the Ottoman Empire in the Balkans, Seyyid Ali Sultan / Tanrıdağ Bektashi
Lodge, also known as Kızıl Deli Sultan Lodge, is located in Dimetoka, Greece. The lodge
was founded by Seyyid Ali Sultan in 1397 after the conquest of Edirne. This person, who has
a very important place both in tradition and in the religious order, is mentioned in Gülbanks
as "Seyyid Ali Sultan, the watchman of the Rumelia province". He was deemed worthy of
the 'cook's hide', which is the second of the twelve traditional Bektashi hides. The dervish
lodge also has the distinction of being the first land-owning lodge in Rumelia. Seyyid Ali
Sultan Lodge is the lodge where Balım Sultan, who is considered the second patriarch of
Bektashism, was raised. It was damaged by the closure of the Janissary Corps and Bektashi
Lodges by Sultan Mahmud II in 1826 and the subsequent massacres. Within the scope of
this article, the spaces and uses of the Seyyid Ali Sultan Lodge buildings are discussed
in historical and artistic context. The places of the lodge are; The information obtained
from written records, historical sources and on-site investigations has been tried to be
presented based on visual materials and architectural necessity criteria. Dervish lodge;
Today, the tomb, ritual house, guest house, soup kitchen (kitchen-slaughterhouse), Dervish
houses (Pasha Mansions), Mehmed Dede Fountain and two fountains, the inscription of the
fountain built by Es-Seyyid Halil, its graveyard and mulberry tree are still standing.
