The Symbolic Space of Chinese Tea Culture

The article is devoted to determining the parameters for the formation of the symbolic space of Chinese tea culture. The research methodology is related to the cultural analysis of the phenomenon of tea culture as a certain symbolic space. The author focuses on the fact that tea culture, being an important part of the traditional national culture of China, creates a special space for the life of Chinese society and the everyday culture of the Chinese, which includes a variety of cultural forms. The symbolic space of Chinese tea culture is a holistic expression of its ideal meanings through objects, phenomena and activities as elements of this culture. The Chinese tea ceremony is rooted in Chinese culture, permeated with ancient theories of philosophy, aesthetics, ethics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, literature and art, and is inextricably linked with the Confucian and Taoist ideals of traditional culture. The ethical function of Chinese tea culture throughout history is based on the concept of harmony, emphasizing the dialectical thinking of people living in peace and peaceful dialogue. The symbols of tea culture reflect the external form and internal structure of tea culture, associated with obvious national and regional characteristics. Based on the interpretation of the concept of tea culture and its presentation in culture, the concept of presentation of tea culture can be defined as follows: the entire process of people’s participation in the construction of cultural activities by creating tea as a cultural symbol and using this symbol. Currently, the symbolic space of Chinese tea culture is expanding and essentially covering the whole world.
