detailedDescription: Representation: Friedrich Hecker with rifle Note: Hecker, Friedrich, born 28.9.1811 to Eichtersheim (Baden), d. 24.3.1881, St. Louis, USA A middle-aged man is shown in front view, the face turned half to the left. He wears long pants, a voluminous skirt above it, and high boots. Deep into the face, a high looped hat with wide brim, decorated with a feather. Hecker wears a whole beard and longer hair that completely obscures the ears. Two powder horns are stuck in the front of the leather belt. Behind the left leg is a Degen. In front of him, the rifle rests on the ground, whose barrel it covers with the left. The right hand is inhibited in the hips. Under the illustration, the name: “Friederich Hecker.” Just above it near the bottom right corner: “Lith. Anst. v. Ed. Gust May in Frankfurt a M.” The motif of the revolutionary Hecker with the rifle in his left hand has been handed down in several versions. Behind glass, mounted on cardboard, wooden frame, painted black.
