This research paper presents a critical and analytical study of the expression of contemporary consciousness in the poetry of Shakeb Jalali. He is regarded as one of the significant modern Urdu ghazal poets who articulated the inner anguish of modern man, social alienation, and cultural transformation through symbolic and abstract poetic expression. The study examines the thematic and stylistic dimensions of his poetry and highlights that contemporary awareness in his work is reflected not only in subject matter but also in imagery, symbolism, and poetic brevity. Elements such as existential anxiety, identity crisis, loneliness, and the psychological pressure of modern life have been identified as central components of his poetic discourse. The paper concludes that Shakeb Jalali expanded the intellectual and emotional scope of modern Urdu ghazal by transforming personal experience into a broader reflection of modern consciousness. His poetry stands as a significant representation of contemporary sensibility in modern Urdu literature.
