SOCIAL CRITICISM IN NOVEL’S SAYAP-SAYAP PATAH BY KAHLIL GIBRAN

This research aims to 1) describe social criticism in novel’s Sayap-Sayap Patah by Kahlil Gibran and 2) identify the factors that cause social problems in novel’s Sayap-Sayap Patah by Kahlil Gibran. This research is a type of qualitative research. Data were collected using the observation with recor technique. The data source is the literature in the form of the novel’s Sayap-Sayap Patah by Kahlil Gibran, 2018 Edition XII. The data in research is text. The stages in the data analysis technique include the identification, the classification, the problem analysis, and the analysis result collection.The results show that first, the social criticism in novel’s Sayap-Sayap Patah by Kahlil Gibran is (a) critic to the problem of egoism, (b) critic to problem of matchmaking, (c) critic to problem of using position, (d) critic to the control of authority. Second, the factors that cause the emergence of social problems in novel’s Sayap-Sayap Patah by Kahlil Gibran, include (a) social status, (b) power, (c) obediant; (d) gender.
