The Body That Fights: Frantz Fanon's Corporeal Philosophy and the Politics of Resistance

Frantz Fanon's philosophical oeuvre has been extensively analyzed through conceptual, political, and psychological lenses, yet scholarship has overwhelmingly neglected the most immediate site of his theorizing: his own body. This article addresses this lacuna by examining Fanon's philosophy through the embodied experiences that shaped it-as a psychiatrist treating tortured bodies, as a revolutionary theorizing violence as physiological transformation, and as a man dying of leukemia while completing *The Wretched of the Earth*. Drawing on biographical sources, textual analysis, and contemporary refugee studies, I argue that Fanon's conception of liberation is fundamentally corporeal: the colonized subject must undergo not merely political emancipation but bodily rebirth. I introduce the metaphor of "Fanon's gun" as bone rather than metal-the bone that colonialism broke, that grew back wrong, that learned to hit back. This framework is then applied to African refugees in Delhi (2026), whose stateless bodies exemplify Fanon's combatant without ever having read his work. The article contributes to Fanon scholarship by centering the body as the primary text of decolonization and offers a methodology for reading theory through the corporeal of the theorist.
