Elegia cadenciada no poético em “Balada de amor ao vento”, de Paulina Chiziane

This text analyzed Paulina Chiziane’s “The Joyful Song of the Partridge” (1990) as an investigation that interprets considering light of the rhythmic elegiac quality of her poetic craft, as an interpretive exercise that diverges from themes such as war, proverbs, feminism, and bigamy/monogamy. In terms of methodology, this is a literature review based on the work itself. As the title suggests, we are dealing with a poetic genre sung by a character—Sarnau, the narrator-protagonist, who draws on the context of romance to tell her love story with Mwando. The narrator, as in bucolic poems, engages in a dialogue with nature, sharing in its contradictions and desires.
