Productivity of pigs grown on the feed additive “Kormocid”

View through CrossRef
Feed acidifiers (organic acids, inorganic acids, salts) are used in animal husbandry to reduce the pH level of the gastrointestinal tract, increase the digestibility of feed nutrients, and protect the digestive system from the penetration and spread of pathogenic bacteria. Our research aimed to experimentally study the influence of the feed acidifier “Kormocid” on the intensity of growth of crossbred piglets during rearing and establish the optimal dose of the additive. The effect of feeding the feed acidifier “Kormocid” on the live weight of growing pigs was experimentally investigated. The experiment was carried out on four similar groups of pigs on the growing farm, 14 heads in each, obtained from crossing sows of the large white breed with boars of the landrace breed. Experimental groups of pigs were formed, taking into account origin, live weight, age, and article. The control group of pigs consumed the main ration – full-ration combined feed TM “Tsekhavit” during the equalization and main periods. In addition to the main diet, the experimental groups were fed different doses of the feed additive acidifier “Kormocid.” The comparative and main experimental periods were 10 and 45 days, respectively. The researched feed additive-acidifier “Kormocid” is produced by SE “Enzym,” Ukraine. This high-quality acidifier is based on 5 organic acids (formic, propionic, lactic, citric, ascorbic). The organic acids in the finished product are at least 50 %. Experimentally, it was established that the addition of the acidifying feed additive “Kormocid” to the complete diet of growing pigs at a dose of 1.0 kg/1 t of compound feed can increase the live weight and absolute growth of animals by 1.88 kg or 5.7 %, respectively, and by 2.0 kg or by 7.9 % kg, and increase average daily gains by 44.45 g or by 7.9 %. Feeding growing pigs with the acidifying additive “Kormocid” at a dose of 1.0 kg/1 t of a compound feed helps increase piglets' growth energy by 4.62 %. The use of the feed additive acidifier “Kormocid” during the growing-up period of pigs allows for the reduction of the cost of feed per unit of growth and increases the payment of feed per increment.
