A CASE REPORT ON THE EFFECT OF GUDUCHI SIDDHA KSHEERA BASTI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF VATARAKTA (HYPERURICEMIA).
View through CrossRef
Background:
Ayurveda emphasizes maintaining systemic balance to prevent and manage diseases. In the present era, seden-tary lifestyles and improper dietary habits have contributed to an increased incidence of metabolic disorders. Vatarakta (gout like disorder) is one such condition described in Ayurveda, caused by the simultaneous vitiation of Vata Dosha (bio humor) and Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue). Clinically, it presents with pain, swelling, stiffness, and burning sensations in joints and is often associated with hyperuricemia and gout in contemporary medicine.
Case Presentation:
A 55-year-old male patient presented to the outpatient department with complaints of severe pain in multiple joints, predominantly involving bilateral ankle joints and the right wrist, along with swelling, burning sensation in both soles, and difficulty in walking for eight months. Based on clinical features and laboratory investigations, the case was diagnosed as Vatarakta (Hyperuricemia).
The patient was treated with Guduchi Siddha Ksheera Basti for eight days along with Shamana Aushadhi, in-cluding Kaishor Guggul and Samshamani Vati, administered for fifteen days. A follow-up assessment was con-ducted after treatment completion.
Significant improvement was observed in clinical symptoms, including pain, swelling, burning sensation, and walking difficulty. A marked reduction in Serum uric acid levels was also noted after the treatment.
Conclusion:
This case report demonstrates that Guduchi Siddha Ksheera Basti combined with Shamana Aushadhi is effective in the management of Vatarakta (Hyperuricemia). The outcome suggests that Ayurvedic interventions can safely and effectively help manage metabolic and inflammatory joint disorders.
