Triton burnup detector

View through CrossRef
Abstract 1 MeV tritons born due to deuterium-deuterium reaction are regarded as the test particles of deuterium-tritium-born alpha particles in deuterium plasma experiments because kinetic parameters of the tritons are almost the same as the alpha particles. Triton burnup ratio, which is secondary deuterium-tritium reactions divided by deuterium-deuterium reactions, is defined as the alpha particle confinement ability because 1 MeV triton should be well confined to slowdown to ~ 100 keV to experience deuterium-tritium reaction. Newly developed scintillation fiber detectors having different operation ranges have been developed and utilized to perform triton burnup experiments for the first time in stellarator heliotron in Large Helical Device.
