L’étude économique du tourisme mondial a pour objet d’analyser la place du tourisme dans les économies nationales et le commerce international, de même que de procéder à la ventilation et l’évaluation des facteurs quantitatifs et qualitatifs qui servent de base au tourisme. Elle a également pour but de reconnaître les éléments qui constituent les principaux stimulants et obstacles au développement du tourisme et d’examiner les résultats de l’activité touristique en les comparant à ceux de l’ensemble des autres secteurs de la production tant dans les pays industrialisés que dans les pays en développement.
