COMPOUNDS WITH THE COMPONENT BLAGO- AND DOBRO- IN THE SINAI PALIMPSEST AND THE TRESKAVEC EUHOLOGIUM
View through CrossRef
The subject of our paper is an excerpt and analysis of the compounds with the component blago- and dobro- in two manuscripts with Macedonian Church Slavonic redaction. Namely, we are talking about the Sinai Palimpsest and the Treskavec Euchologium, manuscripts from the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Macedonian medieval manuscripts reflect several lexical layers, which is directly related to their temporal and territorial affiliation or, alternatively, to their purpose. The analysis of compounds with the subject components in Macedonian Church Slavonic lexicography, in addition to their presence, also confirms their structural features, the relationship with Greek parallels, the greater presence in non-biblical texts and synonymous relationships. From the aspect of word-forming variation, compounds formed with different suffixes are distinguished. In the paper, we expect to trace more word forms with the component blago- and dobro- due to the fact that we excerpt the word forms from pateric manuscripts, which is a literary genre that gives scribes greater freedom in their writing.
