EFFECT OF COVID-19 ON HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT IN FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE, ASABA, DELTA STATE

Large-scale disruptions have occurred throughout human history, impacting all communities at various points in time. Wars and other natural calamities (famine, earthquake, fire, irregular climate, etc.) are examples of depressions and crises. Descriptive statistics were employed in the study, and information from the target respondent—federal medical centre staff in Asaba, Delta State—was gathered using a structured questionnaire. The main goal is to find out how Covid-19 has affected the development of human capital at Federal Medical Centre in Asaba, Delta State. Taro Yamene was utilised to determine the sample size of 204 from the study's population of 420. Three theories were developed to direct the investigation. The results showed that Zoom has a big impact on employees' job knowledge at FMC, Asaba, and that telework has a considerable impact on employee work competence there. However, social alienation has a detrimental and substantial impact on workers' job competency at FMC, Asaba. The conclusions led to the following suggestions being made; Thousands of individuals have already died from the sickness, and some survivors may experience long-term health problems. Recovery from the epidemic will necessitate significant spending on health and education.
