Abstract
This chapter explores the struggles of Hubert Humphrey and those of his family living in Huron. It starts with Humphrey’s pharmaceutical work in Huron, a town that predominantly depended on farming. In November 1933, Huron recorded the strongest dust storm it ever had. The chapter expounds on President Franklin Roosevelt’s visit to Huron, wherein Humphrey was part of the Democrat delegation. It expounds on Humphrey’s siblings leaving their home for work and family while Humphrey met Muriel Buck at Huron College and later married her. Eventually, Humphrey attended the University of Minnesota and then moved to Louisiana, which was known to be the land of Jim Crow.
