Le réfléchi direct et indirect : Hollywood vu par le film musical

Le film musical oppose deux visages de Hollywood : vu de Hollywood, c'est le microcosme de l'Amérique ; vu de Broadway vu par Hollywood, c'est le responsable de toutes les ruptures. Trois raisons expliquent ce contraste : Hollywood possède un certain humour ; puis, Broadway doit être compris comme un autoportrait métaphorique, qui souligne la difficulté de la création et l'euphorie de la diffusion, renversant ainsi, comme en un miroir, la double image, unificatrice et disséminatrice de Hollywood ; enfin, ces règles forment une organisation complète, qui a pour fonction de suggérer, en dépit de l'avénement du parlant, un équilibre entre destinateur et destinataire, à l'aide d'un alter ego fictif de Hollywood.
